Meditation of Confession

Although the refuge here is an important point, here is only a brief version of the refuge and, just as briefly, the generation of Bodhichitta.

 

Refuge Prayer

DAG DANG DRO WA SEM CHEN THAM CHED KYI
KYAB KYI DANG PO LAMA DAMPA NAM LA KYAP SU CHHI WO
SANG GYE LA KYAB SU CHHI WO
BON LA KYAB SU CHHI WO
SHEN RAB YUNG DRUNG SEM PI TSOG LA KYAB SU CHHI WO

Together with all sentient beings
I take refuge to the great gurus,
I take refuge to the Buddhas,
I take refuge to the Dharma,
I take refuge to the community of all compassionate beings,
I take refuge to the keepers of the Dharma
I take refuge to the Wisdom Protectors.

 

 

Generating Bodhichitta

This immense realm of obvious pure existence,
Is right from the start, equal to Kuntu Zangpo, the omnipresent vastness.
I create the highest mind of great original liberation and compassion.
May I deliver infinitely many sentient beings!

 

 

Ninefold purification breathing

Bring your attention to the middle of your body where the three channels are. These are more open. Be aware of this openness and continue to focus your attention on this openness.

 

Below the navel to the crown, this part of your body is more open and shining. Be aware that this is like a being of light. (45 sec)

 

Syllable SO

 

Sit in the five-point stance. Visualize yourself as an ordinary being. Above your head, on a sun and moon cushion in the center of a thousand-petalled white lotus, imagine a bright syllable SO, emanating from the eight colorful rays of light and radiating upward into the space. These rays invite countless SO syllables from the universe, which have the quality of the Compassionate, who are in the space and these dissolve into the original SO syllable. (15 sec)

 

The SO syllable becomes much brighter and more beautiful than before. Again, imagine beams of light emanating from the same SO syllable and easily cleaning all the pollution of the existing world and the impurities of all sentient beings. Then the SO syllable dissolves into light.

 

In fact, this SO syllable is our Root Teacher, which is the collective compassion of the Enlightened of the Three Times, but appears in the form of Shen Lha Ökar, the Compassionate. Its body color is clear and bright, like thousands of sunbeams reflected off a snowy mountain. He has a face and two hands and he sits cross-legged. His two hands hold a jewel vase full of nectar in the gesture of meditation; he has the nine qualities of perfection and is decorated with the thirteen peaceful ornaments. He appears in this form, but is not a material object. We imagine him to be in front of us, full of compassion and love for all sentient beings.

 

Before him, you reflect very clearly from the bottom of your heart about all the unrighteous deeds you have committed through the three gates of body, mind, and speech, such as the five boundless acts of unrighteous deeds, the eight wrong deeds, the nine deceived deeds, and so forth, from the beginning to today in unlimited lives. (30 sec)

 

Shenla ÖkarShenla Ökar

 

Say:

 

I confess these unrighteous deeds, do not keep secret and hide none. I regret these acts, realize that they were wrong and confess them with the four conditions of confession. Please accept my confession and cleanse all negative Karma and impurities without exception and protect me kindly and lovingly.

 

Then in the middle of the moon disk in the heart of Shen Lha Ökar, imagine that a hundred syllables circulate around the SO syllable in a clockwise direction as if they were forming a white rosary around the SO syllable. Concentrate on the circulating syllables and imagine them if you reciting them. From this syllables, boundless rays of light in the form of the white nectar spontaneously rise up to the wisdom mind. Shen Lha Ökar's body is completely filled with this nectar until it overflows at its crown chakra and fills the vase which he holds in his hands.

 

From this vase, the nectar overflows, rains down and fills our body by running into our vertex chakra as well. Because of this, all our illnesses, obstacles, negative Karma, and impurities, in the form of a reddish-blue fluid, are driven out of our bodies through the pores of our skin. This fluid flows under our seat cushion into the underworld, into the mouth of the Lord of Death and his retinue, and to those with whom we have karmic debts. Imagine that they are satisfied with your offer of the now-black liquid and your dedication to this achievement. (30 Sek.)

 

 

Recitation

Next, recite the hundred-syllable prayer as many times as you can, at least 108 times. By reciting the prayer and transferring the black liquid to the Lord of Death and his retinue, they become satisfied and our karmic debts are paid. Imagine that all sentient beings are freed from negative karmic traces and illnesses, and that your body is completely cleansed of all evil deeds and becomes as clear as a crystal filled with the white nectar of the five wisdoms. From all the 740,000 pores of your body, you shower all sentient beings with this nectar. In doing so, all the evil deeds and karmic traces are washed away and the outside world is turned into a pure spiritual land. Imagine that all sentient beings are transformed into the form of Shen Lha Ökar, and all of them recite the hundred-syllable prayer with devotion. Then recite the one-hundred-syllable prayer and complete 100,000 repetitions. Recite each syllable exactly, first slowly, then ever faster than, as fast as you can.

Resolution

To complete the session, imagine that all manifestations of Shen Lha Ökar dissolve the outer world into light, which in turn dissolves into Shen Lha Ökar, which is above your Vertex Chakra. Imagine that the central Shen Lha Ökar appreciates that you have been cleansed of your wicked deeds and defilements and that he is smiling. He dissolves into light, which is the union of emptiness and bliss. This light then dissolves into you. Then, dwell in this contemplation and see the face of the spontaneous Shen Lha Ökar, which is the true state of your mind. (2 min)

 

 

Final Confession to Shenla Ökar

All sentient beings, like me too, have in our previous lives
Non-virtuous and sinful acts, in whatever way, accomplished.
Whether they were actually accomplished by us or promoted by us or whether we were just happy about,
Whether we have thought, spoken or actually accomplished them,
Whether small things, rough things or just negative actions in this context,
Accordingly, we want to do what we have done or will do in the future,
If only a little, stay aware, without forgetting.

 

And after we have summarized all our sins and obscurations as a single mass in our mind,
Do we confess these in the presence of the Sacred Highest Objects,
Fervently with thoughts of shame, regret and dismay.

 

And after we have forever renounced our wicked deeds and obscurations,
Will we only perform virtuous actions in the future!

 

 

If the dedication is short too, it should be done after each meditation session. On the one hand, we gain merit and on the other, our ego does not puff up: «Others have to imitate me first, all the meditations that I have made», and so on.

All pure virtue done through the three doors,
I dedicate to the welfare of all sentient beings of the three realms.
Having purified all afflictions and obscurations of the three poisons,
May we swiftly achieve the complete Buddhahood of the three bodies.
