Instructions Tsa-Lung — Part 4

Inner refuge

Tsa (Channel)
RANG LÜ GYAL WE KYIL KHOR Ü
YÖN TEN MA LÜ JUNG WE NE
TSA SUM KHOR LO NGA YI LONG
TONG PE KU LA KYAP SU CHI

First refuge: Body
The center of the victorious mandala, one's own body,
The source of all positive qualities without exception,
Is the expanse within the three channels and the five chakras.
I take refuge in this body of emptiness. (30 sec)

Lung (Wind)
DUK NGEL PUNG PÖ TREN TSOK KÜN
YE SHE LUNG GI RAP SEL TE
MA CHÖ KA DAK NAM KHE LONG
Ö KYI KU LA KYAP SU CHI

Second refuge: Speech
All the gathered clouds of suffering and misery
Are completely cleared by the wisdom wind,
Revealing the unelaborated, primordially pure expanse of the sky.
I take refuge in this body of light. (30 sec)

Tigle (Sphere of light)
YE SHE Ö NGE GUR KHANG NE
NYI ME TIG LE Ö ZER TRÖ
MA RIK MÜN PE DRA WA SANG
DE CHEN KU LA KYAP SU CHI

Third refuge: Mind
From the pavilion of the five wisdom lights,
Rays of non-dual spheres of light emanate,
Clearing the webs of the darkness of ignorance.
I take refuge in this body of great bliss. (30 sec)

Let us proceed to the second Tsa Lung exercise with the same principles: body, emotion, Karma, thoughts. Physically it could be present pain or illness in the chest, malaise, tension - different levels. When you are doing the Tsa Lung, feel very tight whatever you feel in the body. Connect with emotion and Karma in the same way. As you exhale in this exercise and rest for a minute, you will feel that it affects your body, emotions, Karma, and thoughts. At the end you will find deep rest. Is it alright to stop when you feel deep resting? No. Then the real journey begins. We have to give up the idea that something stops. Therein lays the whole idea of going deeper or becoming more profound. If you have cleaned, cleaned, cleaned and cleaned, is it over? No. Now the idea of perfection begins. The part of the perfection begins, the part of the purification stops here. If you do not perfecting and only clean, that's the reason that some people are so «spacey» running around. There is no connection to the qualities. How do you do that? It's about the distinction between opening and openness.

When you feel openness, you rest without changing anything. This is how it's done. The picture is like the clear sky and not only that, but like the clear sky in which the sun shines. The space is full of light. The brightness is a very important part. When you imagine the desert sky, you are paying attention to the light, not just the space, because we have reached the space but not yet the light. The light is very important in cultivating the qualities. Why do people in Dzogchen reach the rainbow body? Because these people practice very strongly with the awareness. Maybe there is no rainbow body because of the lack of awareness in the Sutra tradition. There is too much focus on emptiness in the Sutra. There is no emphasis on awareness or emphasis on the practice of vision and light. How come that sometimes we can cleanse many points but still not feel the qualities? Because we do not know how to cultivate them. We say there is no problem: «Do you love me?» We have no problem in our relationship. «Do you love me?» Love is one thing; no problem having another one. Can you see that? If you say there is no problem, what does that mean, there is no problem? Does that mean, «I'm not shouting with you» or «I'm not complaining about you» or «We do not have much to talk about, so we have no problem?» That would not be a good relationship. You have to have something to say. You can be humorous, playful, joyful, you can tease each other, be creative, be communicative - there are a lot of living qualities; this part is missing and you still have the feeling that there is no problem.

When you have purified on these four levels, you have reached the base for development. From here you start with the second level. How do you start this? Become familiar is the first. There is nothing you can do. It's more about you doing nothing.

Last week, we talked about messing up in the beautiful space. That's because you do something. Nothing should be done in this space. We say, «Leave it as it is». If you think, «Now my work begins; there is something for me to do», it means the end. So you can mess up the space. Leave it as it is. No change means staying here longer. Keep this upright. If you keep it up, you will feel something is ripening in the space. It is not a dead space. The ripening has to do with your awareness. We talked about seeing this clearly. When I guided the practice, I used the words «clear, sharp, vital, alive». This is important; when this space is clear, it is full of life. This liveliness is expressed in the image of the sunlight in the desert. When this liveliness is present, it gradually cultivates a quality, such as the peacefulness that we have spoken of. You feel very peaceful; this is a very lively experience.

Here in the heart, we have spoken about openness and the four immeasurable qualities of love, compassion, joy and equanimity. Maybe it's not so good to have so many things in front of you, so let's concentrate on one thing; let us all focus on joy. When you finally feel the space, you are aware without changing anything, and you allow the experience of joy. Allow them. Do not produce the result. You will see that it is there. If the space is maintained, you will realize that the joy is there. If the joy is not there, it means that you have not maintained the space. If you say, «I do not know what space to maintain», it means you have not cleaned enough. That's a sign whether a thing is completed or not successful. Keep that in mind and let us repeat it.

First, be aware of body, emotions, Karma, thoughts, the conditional aspects of the heart, the heart issues, chest pains, the sensation of blockages in the heart; make yourself the inability to openly love conscious or even the sensation of weak will. Be aware of your decision weakness and all the Karma associated with it. And deep inside you are aware of the thought pattern or of the image you have of yourself. Think for a moment about what you want to purify in the areas of body, emotion, Karma, and thoughts in yourself, in your heart.

Let us do the exercise.

Tsa Lung Exercise of Life Force

Try to be aware and sensitive to the physical, emotional, karmic and conceptual letting go, in that order. Just feel the possibilities that exist for these four in that order. Take the opportunity to reflect on it. We first do the cleaning part. Just concentrate on this area and repeat this. (3 min)

Continue to feel the opening of the physical, emotional, karmic, and mental realms, and gradually feel not only the opening, but also the openness, as if you open a space in your Heart Chakra, just as you see after opening of the clouds a cloudless desert sky. Gradually feel a deep sense of openness, like a cloudless desert sky on every level. Rest for a moment without changing or constructing anything; rest without any effort. (1 min)

Slowly feel the presence of the sun in this sky. In the same way you feel the awareness - clear, sharp, alive. Feel this energy. Recognize that the Prana gives joy in this space. Set up awareness and your attention to the joy. Become aware that joy is present in this effortless, luminous space. (2 min)

Recognize that love is there. Feel this joy; feel that love. Realize that the experience of joy and love is the adornment of this luminous space, just as the luminous, naked being Tapihritsa is surrounded by rainbow light. Feel that this love and joy are like a rainbow. (3 min)

This practice should be maintained. Whenever there is dullness or excitement, in order to overcome it, continue to join with that joy and experience the vast, limitless space. This is like experiencing the unlimited space with the Eye of Joy. Joy becomes the gateway to the experience of this infinite space. The unlimited space is the embodiment of wisdom, one of the Tigles we have referred to. The recognition of this infinite body is the wisdom eye. The Eye of Joy is another Tigle that refers to bliss. This bliss has to do with letting go of tensions in the physical body or the energy field or conditions of the mind. By letting go of these tensions and the effort of thoughts, we find that joy. We let go through the rough, physical movements, by holding the Prana on the middle level and the subtle attention of the mind in the right place. «Right» means awareness. In this exercise you work simultaneously with Tsa, with the Chakras, with the Lung and the experience of all Tigles. (2 min)
