Makarasana — Crocodile

«Makarasana» is the name for a group of Yoga Exercises in which the practitioner's trunk lies on the ground. The Sanskrit expression for this is «Makarasana», which translates as «Crocodile» means. These exercises help to relax the cross and lower back, to get blocked energies flowing again. They are therefore excellent for preventing tensions in the lower and middle back as well as in the cross area.

These exercises can be done on their own or as part of an Asana Series. In the Yoga Vidya Series, these exercises can be practiced before or after the «Sun Salutation» («Surya Namaskar»), after the shoulder / neck exercises, in any case before the actual Asanas.
