2: The Sacral Chakra

 

 

The second chakra is the polarity chakra. It has to do with creativity, masculine and feminine balance, and our sexual energies. The back side of the second chakra relates to the seat of the subconscious. The gland that it is connected to is the ludig, or lyden gland which relates to the lymphatic system. The color of this chakra is usually designated as orange. This chakra was focused on in the latter Lemuria development.

Baby is into everything. I want to taste that. I want to touch that. I want to look at this.

Poor old mom!!!

But how does mom respond?

I once heard an interview with Sir Richard Attenborough speaking about what his dad was like when he and Sir David were youngsters. He related how they were always so excited to tell him about things they had discovered, and he’d reply «That’s so interesting. I’d love to know more. Would you go to the library and find out some more for me please?»

So, excitedly they would go, hungry for knowledge, eager to please their father.

Clearly, the campaign was successful since he bred one of the finest actors of all time and arguably the greatest naturalist and broadcaster.

But, what if he’d said, «Don’t touch that»; «Leave it alone».

More reminiscent of the dad in The Lego Movie and the Kragle (his tube of crazy glue he used to ensure his son didn’t take the pieces apart.)

What happens to the desire to learn, to create and be independent?

For the child who has very few cuddles, where is the desire to be touched?

Potentially the easiest way to think of sacral chakra energy is opulence and juiciness. It’s sensuality in all its forms. Loving beautiful paintings, devouring delicious meals, oozing sexuality.

It’s that urge to get up and face the day and make it something special.

Its tantric lotus symbol is orange the color of awakening, action, stimulation and attraction, but orange is also the color of the holy man’s robes. Monks and ascetics wear orange to signify the purity of their knowledge.

The chakra flower has six petals, an innately feminine number, for in it hides many cycles: 360 degrees, 60 seconds and minutes and the 12 months of the year. Secretly, it reveals the six emotions we must overcome to purify this chakra:

4. Desire
5. Cruelty
6. Pride

 

Its element is water and it governs movement, animation and flow.

The concentric circles in the symbol inherently signify cycles but the moon too, has her own irresistible cycle that we would do well to perceive. For the cycles are endless. Life turns and turns, and we are invited to dive into the energy flow and to relish the excitement of the elation and frenzy of change.
