The third chakra is the seat of the emotional body. The gland that relates to this chakra is the adrenal gland. The color usually associated with this gland is yellow. The Atlantis period of earth's history focused on the development of this chakra.

FEELINGS, ENERGETICS AND MENTALITY OF THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA
The predominate lesson of the solar plexus chakra relates to how one feels the world sees us.
How strong is our identity? Unlike the other chakras, and particularly the upper ones, the solar plexus chakra has no connection to thought.
No logic, no reasoning, its power is entirely related to feeling.
More importantly it’s how we trust ourselves.
We even say, “listen to our gut”, don’t we?
Serotonin is the neurotransmitter responsible for our mood modulation (as well as many other things. It has around thirty different functions that we know of.)
Given this, you might consider it would be found in the brain, but in fact 90% of it is found in the gut. Manufactured and stored there, it governs how confident or anxious we feel and a massive bearing on how digestive functions fare.
Its development begins when a child is about 4 or 5, just as they begin to understand their actions have consequences. If they don’t get their own way, they throw tantrums, scream and shout.
How do the parents respond? Do they reward the kicking off? Do they reprimand the behavior? If they do, then how?
Does the child start to understand that kind of behavior is “not nice” and ultimately doesn’t get you very far in life, or do they get punished hard with little consideration to their feelings and opinions?
Do they feel safe expressing their distaste next time, or do they shy away from saying anything?
The main time of solar plexus development takes place during adolescence, as a person starts to become independent and develop a personality outside of his or her parent’s grasp.
It’s the first time many people have had to stand on their own two feet, and if it’s not successful it can set the scene for life.
Being so intimately involved with digestion, means of course, it rules the liver, the foreman of the body. The liver controls metabolism and assimilation of nutrients as well as other things, but also emotionally it moderates how we deal with authority.
Do we feel stressed and under pressure?
Are we confident enough to act with authority?
When we’re stressed, how do we deal with that?
If stress is not dealt with, it turns to frustration and anger – another of the liver’s friends.
We might see violent outbursts, but also repressed, these emotions invariably affect the digestive system, and often the pancreas too. Type 2 diabetes is the archetypal solar plexus illness.
Lastly this is the seat of will power, resilience and determination. Core strength, we could say. So, what secrets lie within the ten-petal symbolism of the yellow chakra?
Its name Manipura, means city of jewels referring to how the ten Prana and vayus congregate in the space. These energetic winds regulate energy transformation within the organism, each having its own direction, function and properties.
When they meet in harmony at the solar plexus center, so kundalini can rise.
Here too, the lesson relates that ten states we must overcome to achieve mastery of this center: foolishness, delusion, ignorance, jealousy, shame, disgust and treachery disturb this center as do sadness, unchecked ambition and fear.
Just as in the root chakra, we see energy coming down from the cosmos, through the downward pointing triangle and then deflecting back out into the universe.
